BROAD MUSEUM COLLECTION: IMAGE CRITIAUE
I liked this art work because it looked like the solar system. It gives me an idea that we’re all together even if we don’t think we are. I like how the artist was able to put different colors because once again it shows that everyone is different and we aren’t the same. I like how the mirrors make it seem like the room goes on forever. I liked how the picture makes you forget that there problems in the real world because everyone is calm. I like how they’re different shapes and size of the lights and that got my attention. I also like how the glass floor makes it seem like you’re floating in space with no care in the world.
FAVORITE PHOTO FROM 100 MOST INFLUENTIAL LIST
This one has to be my favorite picture from all the 100 that were shown. It tells a story but you have to pay attention to the story it’s trying to tell. Just by looking at it the first thing that comes to mind is a pregnant model. But that isn’t the only thing that was trying to be shown. The photographer is trying to let everyone that being pregnant is a beautiful thing. It’s sending a message that no matter if you gain weight. You’ll still be beautiful because you’re growing a life in your body. I think that at this time pregnancy was a huge thing maybe because some didn’t like the thought of being pregnant or couldn’t take the fact that they might gain weight.
The model looks like she doesn’t have a care in the world. Shes in love with her body and no one can bring her self-esteem down. She was proud of it she wanted the world to know how much her body changed. She shows how her body looked on her second child. In the picture she looks like herself. She looks like a normal person getting her maternity pictures.
After reading the little description given under the picture I was kind of mad to find out that people thought it was pornography. And that they weren’t going to sell the magazines in their stores because they would have to much attention. Just because a woman is posing naked even for maternity pictures shouldn’t be considered as pornography. If anything people should accept the fact she’s willing to bust up the topic of body love. I feel like a lot of people looked up to her not know for being brave but because she was telling everyone that no matter how your body looks that you can still be happy and love your body.
Not going to lie I feel like if this picture was posted or let out nowadays. People would praise Demi because of the words she used while describing the feeling of it. She’s not body shaming but self love. Nowadays girls don’t love their body but instead bring them down. I have heard stories where the girl feels like she’s too huge or doesn’t belong. Especially when it comes to gaining weight or having a change with their body. I’m glad she was able to get this picture out and let people see how the changes in your body make you beautiful.
Overall this picture means a lot to me not only coming from someone who’s “big” but because Demi shows skinny or not you’re still beautiful. I feel like everyone needs to hear that they are beautiful when if it come from someone you don’t know.
SANDY SKOGLUND
Sandy Skoglund used colors from the color wheel to get peoples attention. She’s uses the same subject over and over again in her images in different shapes and sizes. Which catches everyones attention. She uses the opposite color to make it pop out and make the viewer stay a little longer and make them think what the image is trying to tell him. I like this picture because it looks like the older people and the cats have lived together since forever. It looks like they are about to eat something so everyone is around the table.
WASSILY KANDINSKY
Looking at this work makes me think of someone in their lake house. Looking into the sunset on their boardwalk. This image bring happiness to my mind. Happy looks where used to make people feel welcome. They used basic shapes and they made me want to create something like that. I would like to create something like that something that tells a story about how I feel.
READ AND REFLECT: WHY IS PHOTOGRAPHY SO IMPORTANT
Photography is so important in so many ways. It lets people see the world in a different way especially for the people who weren’t there when it happened. With photography you’re able to keep the memories alive forever and ever because like the saying “a picture means a million words”. The picture can be around for year-end years and give off different meaning to everyone who see them.
With photography you never stop learning things especially when it comes to taking the picture and editing them. It lets you see things differently it like opens your eyes more. Photography lets you travel the world to capture the problems to open other people eyes. Photography can mean a lot of things to different for some its a language, for others its art, and for others it a hobby. Its the way its looked at and how they want to read it.
READ AND REFLECT
Being a photographer would be a good job because you’re own boss. There’s isn’t going to be someone yelling at you being late or for doing something wrong. Instead you are able to fix them on you’re own time and at your own pace. You are able to make your own schedules. You would also be able to find the time and place to make it fit in your life. For example when you just want to stay in bed and do nothing. You’re able to stay home and edit picture or sending edited pictures to the families or models. You’re able to do your own styles and make your own ideas come to life. If you worked for someone you wouldn’t be able to do that because you would have to follow the rules.
